Happy Hippie Hean Mani

Hey Sassies. :-)

I hope you're all having a fabulous week so far. I love October! Partly (okay, mostly) because it's my birthday month, and partly because of the weather, new life, chirpy birds, happy people, and I could carry on for days... Something else that is definitely also a big pick-me-upper, is the bright and cheerful mani requests I'm getting. :-)

Today's manicure was for my beautiful friend, Christine. She was the very first person to book a manicure when I broke the news that I was going mobile, and have since then just been such a positive and beautiful piece of my life. She is such a bright and cheerful soul, which is always reflected in her nails. :-) This time we went for a full on bright, in your face, hippie look. :-D

I started off with Essence Gel Base Coat (Lately I love this base coat, even when not using the essence gel polishes). When that dried, I applied two coats of Hean Nail Polishes. From Thumb to Pinky: Hean City Fashion (currently on sale over here), Neon I love Hean, Original I love Hean (a few years old, still works like an absolute dream!), Another Neon I love Hean, and then another City Fashion on the pinky. :-) They're all two coats, except for the yellow pinky, which I decided to give a third coat to get 100% opacity. I don't think I've ever found a yellow nail polish that requires less than two coats. If you have, I'd love to hear from you in the comments section below. :-)

I then started stamping with a BornPretty Store stamping Plate and Essence black stampy polish. Lastly I sealed it all in with Hean Diamon HD Top Coat, and added a rhinestone on each nail.

I just love how this mani came out. It's so happy and bright, and exactly who Christine is.

I hope you love this manicure as much as I do. Thank you so much for stopping by. Till next time.

Nubar Rosegold and a bit of Bling

Hello Beauties

Who likes bling? Ooooh, I do! :-D I have a super blingy holo manicure I want to show you today.

We started by doing natural tips, with a clear acrylic overlay. Once the nail and acrylic application was complete, I painted the thumbs to middle fingers with Nubar "essence", a stunning rosegold holo nail polish. I used two coats, with Essence quick dry topcoat.

Then, using Omega Nails' gold holo glitter and Omega Nails silver holo glitter nail poslishes mixed, I applied it by using the sponge technique, to get a nice opaque glitter coat. I bought these polishes from Glamore Cosmetics (when they still used to sell Omega Nail products). Unfortunately, they've been discontinued since then.

I then added some gold (I think it's more yellow, but anyway) and silver rhinestones to the index fingers, and sealed them all in with Essence Quick Dry Top Coat.

I'm not normally someone for very bling nails, but I really like how these turned out. :-) What do you think? Don't be shy, drop me a comment below. :-) You know I love to hear from you.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Classic French with a girly accent

Hello Mani-acs :-)

How have you all been doing? Did you have a good weekend? Oh, we had SO much fun in the Sassy salon this weekend, and I just can't wait to share all the awesomeness with you.

Let's start with Naomi's classic French manicure, with a gorgeous girly accent.

I started off with natural tips, as her nail beds were just a tad bit too short for a French tip. I then did a clear acrylic overlay, and painted the French tips with Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy "Sure Thing" (510).

After it dried completely, I added this cute nail art sticker I got from Planet Nails. They come in a full square, that you trim according to the size of the nail. I love this, because there's very little that frustrates me as much as a nail wrap that's just that tiny bit too small to cover the entire nail, leaving a mm of nothingness on the side of the nail. Bleh. Luckily, there's nothing like that with this awesome sticker. Here, let me show you.

After adding the gorgeous accent stickers, I sealed everything in with DCL Nail Fortifier, which promises to feed the nail, even through acrylic and gel overlays. Wow, right?! If you can't remember my post about this awesome treatment top coat, you can view it here.

We then decided it needed one last special touch, and decided to add the silver/clear rhinestones on the accent fingers, and really felt happy with the finished result. I added another coat of DCL after placing the rhinestones.

Overall, I'm very happy with how this one turned out, and what an absolute delight Naomi was.
Thank you so much for letting me do my thing on your nails, Naomi. I'm looking forward to pamper you again soon.

Neon Water Marble

Hello Nail Addicts :-)

And HELLOOOOO WINTER! Brrrr. My fingers are actually not coping with the typing of this post. Hahahaha. Who left the freakin' fridge open??? Eeeeek! I hope you're all staying warm!

To beat the winter cold, I have an AWESOME collection to share with you this week! :-D I'm beyond excited! I started hyperventilating when I saw Glamore Cosmetics are bringing the "I love Hean" NEON collection to South Africa. It's seriously stunning, trust me.

I was a bit nervous about this collection at first. Most neon polishes I've used before take at least 3 to 4 coats to be fully opaque. We don't like four coaters. :-( Four coaters suck! BUT... This is Hean. And Hean ROCKS! :-D Opaque in just 2 easy coats, a streak free application, and stunning finish! Yes please, Hean... Yes, please. And THANK YOU!!

Let's look at some pictures, coz that's why you're all here, right? ;-) First up, two water marble mani's I did, using this happy collection.

As you can see, these babies are perfect for water marbling. I haven't done water marble in over a year, so I was very out of practice. I forgot how much I love the technique, so I can predict that you will see a lot more water marble mani's on my blog in the near future. ;-) I haven't tried stamping with them yet, but stay tuned to see the results. :) I think they might amaze.

I'll also share 3 swatches... First up #895, a juicy bright pink. I'm smitten!
I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this polish. It was almost perfect in just one coat (I know... Huh? But it's neon? I KNOW - cray cray), so this will be the one I'll try stamping with first. Very excited!

Next up, #894 - The bright coral that had everyone swooning. True love!
Can't deal! Too beautiful.

Last, but DEFINITELY not least..... #891 is a bright neon green.

I'm blown away. I normally don't like green nail polish, but I can tell you with absolutely no doubt in my mind that I'll be wearing this baby over and over and over again. How stunning, right?

I know some people believe neon colours to be more summery colours, but hey... WHO CARES? I love colour. My hair has been pink, purple, blue, turoise, blue again, and now blonde, turquoise and purple again. Yes, I LOVE colour! Hahaha. So screw you, boring winter nude wearers. WE LOVE THIS COLLECTION, AND WE WILL WEAR IT. ALL. WINTER. LONG! Ha! Just to add a little brightness, sunshine and happiness to the cold winter months. :) Yes, please. I mean, why NOT??

So tell me... Which one is your favourite? :-) Have you tried any of Hean's polishes? Which ones do you own? And what do you think of them? Don't be shy, drop me a line below. ;-)

Thank you so much for stopping by and reading. Much love, and stay sassy!

Hean #162 Purple & Gold Stamping Mani

Hey babes :-)

Today I want to show you another Hean nail polish I absolutely love. It's #162 from the City Fashion collection. If you know me well, you'll know that I'm OBSESSED with Hean nail polish, and with very good reason. I'll tell you more, focusing specifically on this purple little beaut, but it applies to most of Hean's polishes from the "I love Hean", "City Fashion", "Summer 2015" and "Jungle Pop" collections which are currently available in South Africa from Glamore Cosmetics.

For the mani below, I painted one coat, wore it for a day, then painted another coat the next evening, and topcoated it. I went without topcoat the first day, and there was no visible tip wear or chipping, which I found extremely impressive. After the top coat dried, I stamped on my ring finger using a Born Pretty stamping plate, (which I can't name right now, coz poepies can't remember the code. Ahem. This post will be updated shortly - Sorry girls) and Gold Born Pretty Stamping Polish. I then added a stud (also from Born Pretty Store) on my middle finger nail, and finished off with Hean Diamond HD top coat.

I'm still struggling a bit to get the lighting right, so the above picture is not a true swatch of this amazing purple. Below, I share two swatches that are a LOT more colour accurate. It is one easy coat, with no top coat.

Hean City Fashion #162 is what I would call a rich purple crème polish. The consistency and opacity is an absolute dream, making application a breeze. It is semi self levelling, and has a smooth and glossy finish. The pigmentation ensures perfect opacity in a single coat, making it great for stamping and water marbling too.
